PAKISTAN Inter-faith League (PIL) Chairman Sajid Ishaq Tuesday condemned the suicide attacks on two churches in Yuhannabad locality and demanded justice from the government.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club along with other office-bearers of PIL, Sajid Ishaq, who is also the central minorities’ president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said that Christians across Pakistan had no faith in the Joint Investigation Team formed by the Punjab government to probe the bombings and subsequent lynching of two Muslims allegedly by Christian youths.
‘Both incidents should be probed by a judicial commission headed by a senior high court judge and the report must be made public. The commission should also be mandated to fix responsibility and hand down punishments to those found guilty of negligence in duties,’ he said. He said that PIL feared that the unfortunate incident had put the entire Christian community at high risk of revenge attacks. ‘It is, therefore, demanded that all Christian colonies be provided foolproof security and additional Rangers be kept deployed, especially in Yuhannabad, until peace returns to the Christian colony,’ he added.
